Jhanvi is a postdoctoral research associate focusing on developing a SimCell-based biocatalyst for sustainable cultured meat production. This project aims to make cultured meat production more sustainable by reducing costs, enhancing resource efficiency, and potentially minimizing environmental impacts. She is working under the joint supervision of Prof. Wei Huang and Prof. Cathy Ye.

Jhanvi received her PhD from Indiana University Bloomington (USA), where she specialized in engineering virus-like particles (protein nanocages) through synthetic biology. Her research focused on creating biomimetic functional materials, such as enzymatic nanoreactors and vaccine-like constructs targeting the Influenza A virus. After completing her PhD, she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) within the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology, and Inflammation (VI4), where she contributed to vaccine development for infectious diseases like Tuberculosis and gained extensive experience working with animal models. Subsequently, Jhanvi transitioned to a second postdoctoral role in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Vanderbilt University, where she applied her expertise in synthetic biology and protein engineering to develop a hybrid platform that combines engineered protein-based biomaterials with engineered mammalian stem cells to address tissue deterioration in arthropathies.
