Research fellows will be working on research projects spanning the physical, mathematical, chemical and biological sciences.
The University Research Fellowship scheme was established to identify outstanding early career scientists who have the potential to become leaders in their fields and provide them with the opportunity to build an independent research career.
Dr Banerjee‘s project is ‘Multimodal reconstruction of digital heart for cardiac interventions in real-time’. He joined the University of Oxford as Postdoctoral Researcher in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (CVM), Radcliffe Department of Medicine in August 2017. He is now a Faculty member and PI in the Department of Engineering Science, with research primarily focused on Multimodal Reconstruction of Digital Anatomy for Real-Time Clinical Interventions.
This year’s other fellowship recipients based at the University of Oxford are:
- Dr Ross Anderson, Department of Earth Sciences – Preserving the rise of complex life
- Dr Nick Bultinck, Department of Physics – Strongly interacting electrons in synthetic superlattices
- Dr Kaibo Hu, Mathematical Institute – Finite elements for geometry
- Dr James Matthews, Department of Physics – Extreme cosmic accelerators: High-energy particles and feedback from black hole jets and winds
Professor Laura Herz, Associate Head (Research) in the MPLS Division, said: “It’s wonderful to see our early career researchers being recognised for their novel and ground-breaking research and I am delighted for all the recipients. We all look forward to following their projects as they develop over the course of the fellowship.”
