All research contributions in the area of sports medicine and technology are welcome, with a special focus this year on women’s sport and injury prevention.

 

 

Abstract submission for the Annual Podium Institute Conference on Sports Medicine & Technology 2025 is now open! Please share widely with your contacts.

The Conference focus is on the development, application and validation of innovative wearable, vision, biomarker, AI and robotic technologies to transform sport safety across the youth, community and professional sports. All research contributions in the area of sports medicine and technology are welcome, with a special focus this year on women’s sport and injury prevention.

This year’s event will be held at the University of Oxford on 25th & 26th September 2025, and will be hosted by the Podium Institute Director, Professor Constantin Coussios OBE FREng, at the Richard Doll lecture theatre in Headington, Oxford.

Technological and clinical researchers across academia, industry, and the world of sport wishing to present at the Conference are encouraged to submit an abstract before the deadline of 11:59pm on Monday 30th June 2025. The organising committee will review the abstracts and confirm acceptance by 15th July 2025, either for an oral presentation as a contributed talk or as a poster with flash-talks (the preferred format for students). All contributed presentations and posters are to be given in person in Oxford.

 

Themes and Topics

Abstracts should fall within one or more of the technological and thematic highlights of the conference:

  • Wearables
  • Computer Vision
  • Imaging and Neuroimaging
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Biomarkers
  • Musculoskeletal injury
  • Cardiovascular Risk
  • Women’s sport and injury prevention
  • Safety Challenges by Sport (for those with expertise in the challenges that a specific sport faces in regards to injury, technology, and policy)

Abstracts for contributed talks (10 minutes), and posters with ‘flash’ talks (2-3 minutes with A0 poster), can be submitted via this link.

The majority of conference costs are sponsored by The Podium Institute, and attendees are asked to pay a discounted registration fee to confirm attendance (£40 for students and £80 for non-students) that covers all meals, coffee and attendance of the drinks’ reception and formal hall dinner at New College, Oxford. Subsidised accommodation is available also at New College for an additional £45/person cost upon request. Upon notification of acceptance, contributing presenters will be required to confirm attendance through payment of the attendee fee prior to final inclusion in the programme.
