Kyriacos Kyriacou is a DPhil researcher in Neurotechnology at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Oxford. Kyriacos began his DPhil in October 2026 and is developing sleep state classification for implanted deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices, supervised by Dr Joram van Rheede and Professor Tim Denison. Kyriacos’ research aims to develop models that operate within the processing, memory and power constraints of implantable hardware, with the ultimate goal of enabling closed-loop, brain-state-optimised therapy for neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and epilepsy.
Before his DPhil studies, Kyriacos worked as a Research Assistant at Keele University under the supervision of Professor Charlene Greenwood, where he developed machine learning models for the early detection of breast and prostate cancer using X-ray scattering. Kyriacos holds a BSc in Physics from Keele University.
