Brain Research

Research activities on the brain span studying neurodegeneration, stroke, cancer, and traumatic brain injuries. Most forms of neurodegeneration, including Alzheimer’s disease, are associated with cerebral blood flow alterations. We are investigating the nature and extent of these changes, and developing novel imaging and measurement techniques to assess them.

We have a state-of-the-art transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and pupillometry laboratory, and access to world-leading research and clinical MRI facilities nearby at the John Radcliffe Hospital site. We are developing new tools to diagnose, monitor treatment response, and inform treatment pathways for people at risk of dementia as well as patients.
